Developers of a proposed restaurant in Grapevine received more time to complete the project.

Grapevine City Council approved a six-month extension to an economic development agreement worth up to $500,000 during its May 7 meeting. The agreement with Crossvines 1031 Partners was approved last December.

The gist

Director of Economic Development Garin Giacomarro said the initial opening of the restaurant was delayed, which necessitated the extension. The project is anticipated to attract further restaurants to the area near Crossroads Drive once open, he added.

“We know that it’s had some vacancy issues,” Giacomarro said. “We think this is a great first step [toward revitalizing the area].”

The potential tenant is continuing to improve the property that was previously occupied by an Outback Steakhouse and TGI Friday’s. Giacomarro said the new restaurant will have an outdoor game space, and likened the concept to Chicken N Pickle, which has a Grapevine location.

Looking ahead

To date, no tenant has been announced for the property. However, Giacomarro said an announcement is expected to be made by Aug. 1.

Another restaurant and sports bar, Rowdy Cowboy, plans to open its doors within the same area this summer.
