Grapevine’s Great Wolf Lodge Water Park is receiving up to $17 million in renovations.

Located at 100 Great Wolf Drive in Grapevine, the water park destination has made a filing for renovations with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

According to the project filing, the 57,200-square-foot project will take a little more than a year to complete, beginning in May and finishing in late July 2024.

“We are currently exploring possible renovations to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, and to gain insights required as part of the planning and evaluation process, we needed to complete this filing with the state,” Director of Media Communications Joseph Lasecki said in a statement.

Renovations will focus on public areas such as entertainment areas, food and beverage areas, and interior finish updates. New additions will also include a grand staircase, arcade relocation, restaurant expansion and an outdoor bar.

The renovations will be designed by Wisconsin-based design firm, Architectural Design Consultants Inc., according to the project filing.

According to Lasecki, there is not much to comment on during this stage.

“While we are excited about the possibilities of bringing some new experiences to families visiting the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, we are still in the planning stage and it would be premature to comment on what any potential renovations could entail,” Lasecki said.

Great Wolf Lodge opened its first resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, in 1997. Grapevine became the company’s sixth location, opening in 2007.

Another water park will also soon be added to Grapevine, competing with Great Wolf Lodge. The Stand Rock Resort and Water Park was approved for zoning back in October and is scheduled to begin construction later this spring or early summer. The new resort will feature 661 rooms, a 95,000-square-foot indoor water park and a two-acre outdoor water park. 800-693-9653. www.greatwolf.com/grapevine
