Developers on June 28 gave Southlake officials and residents a first look at the proposed plans for The Village at Carillon Parc, which sits on 42 acres between North White Chapel Boulevard and Carroll Avenue on SH 114. The development team, lead by former Southlake mayor John Terrell, gave a presentation on the development. Terrell said the development will have a European feel and offer chef-driven restaurants, a possible culinary school, health and medical uses, a park and an amphitheater. Here are five things you need to know about the proposed plans: 1. Not another Southlake Town Square Terrell made it clear in his presentation that The Village at Carillon Parc would offer residents something different from Southlake Town Square in terms of retail, restaurants and the overall look and feel. Terrell said the development will not contain the large, chain stores that Town Square has; instead, it will offer unique, boutique stores. "You will get an experience here you can't get with national chains," he said. "[Our retail stores will be] much smaller." 2. Chef Brian Massie plans to move from Las Vegas to open two restaurants Brian Massie, an executive chef in Las Vegas who has opened 30 restaurants, announced he would move his family from Las Vegas to Southlake to open two restaurants in the development. Corked—Tapas & Cocktails will be centered around wine and serve oysters and cheese boards. The second restaurant envisioned by Massie is a steakhouse. Massie said to think of this restaurant as "a classy butcher shop." 3. The city's library is proposed to be on the site If approved, the city's library will move from the basement of Town Hall to the development. Terrell said the new library would have a drive-up book drop. There would also be a parking lot behind the library and a covered pedestrian bridge from one of the development's three parking garages to the library. Additionally, he said the library would contain event space on its upper floor. Terrell said the library is the "key to overall success of the development." 4. A residential component is part of the plans In the proposed plan, Terrell said there will be three-story residential lofts that will sit on top of the retail and restaurants. 5. A hotel is planned for the development, just not Hotel Indigo In previous plans for the development a Hotel Indigo was proposed as the hotel that will go in the development. However, Terrell said there is still a boutique hotel in the plans, but it will not be a Hotel Indigo. He said the hotel will be five stories.
