A couple street medians in Colleyville are getting a makeover with the help of the Texas Department of Transportation.

Council approved a funding agreement with TxDOT on June 6. TxDOT’s Green Ribbon Program helps fund the planting and establishing of native trees and plants on the state highway system, according to the department.

“City staff proactively seeks funding opportunities to maintain and enhance our community,” Public Works Director Amber Beard said at the meeting.

The details

SH 26 at Longwood Drive will undergo landscape improvements.
  • The city's participation amount is estimated at $30,200.
  • State participation is estimated at $44,189.
  • Federal participation is estimated at $104,000.
  • The total project cost is estimated at $178,389.
The second intersection project will be for Precinct Line Road, designated as FM 3029 by TxDOT, at LD Lockett Drive.
  • Location participation is $30,200.
  • State participation is $52,122.
  • Federal participation is $124,000.
  • The total estimated cost is $206,322.
For the projects, the city will be responsible for all design costs and environmental studies as well as any excess costs.

Council approved a third agreement for the management of landscaping and irrigation. Under the agreement, the city is responsible for all required maintenance for the following project locations.“We are extending the median beautification and putting more beautiful stuff in Colleyville,” Mayor Bobby Lindamood said.
