Bicentennial Park will soon have synthetic turf after the council approved a contract with Geo Surfaces Inc. for $125,300, part of a contract to not exceed $130,000, during the Nov. 15 meeting.

Documents stated the city has made multiple attempts to keep the grass alive but has not been able to due to heavy foot traffic in the park, located at 450 W. Southlake Blvd. The concrete work was completed the week of Nov. 28-Dec. 2. The turf is waiting to be installed, according to city officials.

This is a long-term solution and will come out of the Southlake Parks Development Corporation fiscal year 2022-23 budget, according to documents.

According to the website, Bicentennial Park features baseball fields, tennis courts, a playground and the Liberty Gardens.

The $4,700 remaining funds for the project may cover additional unforeseen expenses for this project or related expenses for Bicentennial Park. 817-748-8019. www.experiencesouthlaketexas.com
