Grapevine hires new public library director

After 40 years of service, Janis Roberson, director of the Grapevine Public Library, announced her retirement earlier this year. The city has announced a new library director: Ruth Chiego joined the city’s management team as the Public Library director Feb. 2, according to a news release.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such a thoughtful City organization,” Chiego said in a statement. “The Library team is incredibly talented and I look forward to supporting them as we continue the tradition of exceptional library service to the Grapevine community.”

Chiego has worked for the San Antonio Public Library since 2008. Prior to that, she oversaw public services operations for the Westbank Community Library in Austin/WestLake Hills, Texas from 1998-2005.

“While I’ve only been here for a few short weeks, I already feel very much at home,” Chiego said in the statement. “Everyone has been so welcoming and I already see endless potential for our Library services to grow and meet the needs of both our existing and potential customers.”
