Dallas-based Weir’s Furniture is set to close all locations in the coming months after 78 years in business, according to a news release.
Closing sales for merchandise in the stores began March 26, with stores remaining open until all items are sold. A spokesperson for Weir’s said the stores will likely officially close in May or June.
A decision to close the stores was made after evaluating the company’s long-term financial position, market conditions and operational challenges, per the news release.
“This was an extremely difficult decision, but closing now enables us to honor J. Ray and Bea’s legacy by finishing well and taking care of our employees,” said Al Boulden, Weir’s chairman of the board.
