b1 Bank has started construction for a full branch in Westlake.

What's happening?

Southlake businessman Ray Mickens, a former NFL player, is behind the development on the corner of Davis Boulevard and SH 114 within the Entrada development.

b1 Bank opened a loan and deposit production office with dedicated private bankers Oct. 28, 2024, at 65 Andorra Drive, according to previous reporting.

The new construction will deliver a two-story, 6,000-square-foot building that will be the first bank in Westlake. During the groundbreaking July 31, Mickens said the second floor of the building will be an entrepreneur incubator, while the bank will occupy the first floor.


According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the project has an estimated cost of $3 million. Construction is slated to wrap up in July 2026.

b1 Bank, a Louisiana-based company, was founded in 2006, according to its website. This will be the eighth location in the Dallas-Fort Worth market and the only one west of Dallas. There are other locations in the Houston area, as well.

The Westlake Town Council approved the development in May 2024, according to previous reporting.


The background

Mickens runs M2 Concepts and Mickens Inc., a real estate holding and development company in Southlake. His business is also bringing a Smoothie King and Peach Cobbler Factory at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, according to previous reporting.

Mickens played in the NFL for three teams from 1996 to 2007.
