Floor & Decor sells tile, natural stone, wood, luxury and laminate vinyl plank, tools, wall tile, decorative materials and accessories for hard-surface flooring projects, according to the company website. According to its website, there are 10 Floor & Decor locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The closest one to Grapevine is in Arlington.
The timeline for construction of the Grapevine location is seven months with a planned opening in December, according to city documents. The most recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for the decor store the estimated construction cost is $6.8 million.
The setup
Floor & Decor would move into the former LA Fitness gym that opened in 2006. The gym was 45,000 square feet and Floor Decor's proposal is for a 60,378-square-foot retail store. According to city documents, that includes an 18,094-square-foot expansion south of the existing building.
According to city documents, Floor & Decor requested to reduce the open space from 20% to 16.98% and increase the allowable impervious coverage from 80% to 83.02%.
The background
According to previous Community Impact reporting, Floor Decor announced in June 2024 it would open in Grapevine. During the Aug. 20, 2024, meeting, council learned the business would not be coming due to a lease termination of the location at 3200 Grapevine Mills Parkway, where the aforementioned LA Fitness used to be. The previous filing showed construction would cost $8.4 million.
During the May 18, 2021, meeting, City Council denied a 475-unit multi-family housing complex at the same location. Despite a 4-3 approval from the commission, council denied the conditional use permit requested by the applicant in a 6-1 vote, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
