The business partnered with Dr. Charles Mike Rios, a developmental pediatrician with an existing practice in Grapevine. Rios and Dr. Erica Crawford, a psychologist, help assess or reevaluate children for autism spectrum disorder.
“We want to be the autism testing site across the country and our goal is to focus solely on autism and to have no waitlist,” AT4K founder and CEO Chris Tillotson said.
The Centers for Disease Control reports the average wait time for ASD testing is 12 to 18 months and 1 in 36 children is identified as having ASD.
The process
Tillotson partnered with Mike Freytag and James Lamar to start AT4K after he said the trio identified a pandemic across the United States when it came to evaluation and assessments.
AT4K has a goal to meet with 50 patients per week and are ranging from 60 to 70 per month after opening, Tillotson said.
He said the process of diagnosis includes a virtual visit first, an office visit and a second virtual visit to provide the results.
“The reality is, we do believe access to these diagnostics is a true pandemic, and our goal is to change that paradigm,” Tillotson said. “The whole goal of what we're doing is help kids with autism as quickly as possible.”
The Grapevine location was the first to open, while another Texas location in Cypress was opened in February. A third location is coming to Centennial, Colorado.
Tillotson said the goal is to expand to 10 cities across the United States in the next 12 to 18 months.
