Elmer’s Home Services plans to bring a location in Grapevine.

The San Antonio-based company, which offers air conditioning and plumbing repairs, equipment replacement and sewer cleaning, had a conditional use permit approved by the Grapevine Planning & Zoning Commission and Grapevine City Council during a joint meeting Sept. 17.

What you need to know

The business will move into a commercial building at 340 W. Northwest Highway in Grapevine. The Building constructed in 1984 and, most recently, was Classic Tile and Plastering, according to city documents.

Classic Tile and Plastering moved to 340 W. SH 114 in Southlake.

Elmer’s Home Services will have four offices, a break room, two storage rooms and a production area on the first floor, while a second-story mezzanine will feature a storage room, an office and restrooms, according to a presentation during the meeting.

Fourteen of 68 parking spaces will be designated for service vehicles and there currently is a 10-foot-tall canopy for covered parking in the north portion of the 3-acre lot.

What else?

Tommy Mann, a shareholder with Winstead's Zoning & Land Use and Real Estate Development & Investments, said the company already started work on the property, which includes cleaning up the fence line with residential houses on Banyan Drive.

Mann was speaking on behalf of Elmer’s Home Services at the meeting.

Some of the feedback from council members was the need for a beautification plan since the entryway for the business is on Northwest Highway, between Taqueria Burritos Locos and a shopping center that has a Little Caesars. Council member Diane Freed said it was a "little unnerving" there was no beautification plan presented.

Mann said there would be no problem adding that request to the property plans.
