A personalized strength training business is open in Southlake.

Discover Strength uses evidence-based training methods that focus on strength training with heavier weights but less reps than other workouts, General Manager Tucker Bounds said. The business offers one-on-one sessions or small-group training with no more than three clients. It also offers virtual visits, he said.

The franchise is owned by Einar Odland and his son, Cory Odland.

“There’s nothing really like this here,” said Cory Odland. “We give people good, evidence-based workouts. Our ideal client is a busy professional that still wants to be in good shape but doesn’t have the time to spend two hours in the gym. You’re in and out in 30 minutes, two times a week.”

The facility has an exercise physiologist who has a background in exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor learning and nutrition, according to the website. Bounds said each workout will focus on upper- and lower- body strength that can be tailored to once a week for 60 minutes or twice a week for 30 minutes. Bounds said the business is offering a free introductory workout.

Odland said there are plans for more Discover Strength locations in the area with future spots in Keller, Flower Mound and The Colony.

An official grand opening for the Southlake location is slated for Aug. 1, Bounds said.

“We had talked to someone about where to [locate] and were told, 'If you can get in Southlake, that is the place to be,'" Cory Odland said. "And now we are here, the people are awesome. There’s so much going on in town and there’s just traffic in front of our location all day. It’s amazing.”
