Jennifer McCauley and Julie Henderson opened Inspire Physical Therapy and Wellness in February 2018 in a rented room in a Southlake Pilates studio. McCauley said the business quickly outgrew that space, and within the year, they moved to their current location in the 280 Sports Complex on Commerce Street.

In addition to being co-owners, McCauley is one of four therapists, and Henderson serves as the chief financial officer.

McCauley said she graduated with a doctorate in physical therapy from Mount St. Mary’s University in California in 2008, passed the orthopedic clinical boards in 2012 and has been a certified Pilates teacher for over 20 years.

Services provided at Inspire Physical Therapy and Wellness include orthopedic physical therapy, sports-related physical therapy and pelvic health physical therapy.

While working at Kaiser Permanente in California before coming to Texas, McCauley said she underwent pelvic floor physical therapy for conditions she experienced after having an emergency cesarean section.

“I started having urinary leakage [and] abdominal pain, and I didn’t know why,” McCauley said. “I received the therapy ... [and] it resolved all my issues and made me want to help others with it.”

She trained to become a pelvic health physical therapist in the urology department at Kaiser. She said she treats men with testicular pain, erectile dysfunction issues and pelvic pain that stems from sports injuries. She treats women for postpartum issues, urinary leakage, pain with intercourse and chronic pelvic pain conditions, such as endometriosis, she said.

McCauley said the business remains true to its core values of treating holistically, focusing on getting to the root cause of a condition and being Pilates-based.

“We look at not just rehabbing their neck or shoulder but rehabbing them through their spine and core,” McCauley said.

McCauley said she and Henderson plan to open a location in Frisco or Prosper within the year and multiple locations within five years.
