A guide to Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake summer camps for children in 2018


The Grapevine, Colleyville and Southlake area is home to a variety of summer camps for children of all ages and interests. Parents can choose from academic, day, overnight and sports camps. This list is not comprehensive.


Creative Soul Music School Summer Music Camps
Creative Soul Music School’s Summer Music Camps host a summer rock camp to teach students about what it is like to be in a band. Children will write a song, make a music video and learn performing styles.

Destination Science Camps
Colleyville is a hotspot of several Destination Science camps this year, including Amusement Park Science Camp, Transforming Robots, Rovers Rocketing to Space, and Science Makers and Inventors. The camps include hands-on projects to embrace engineering and creativity.
Ages 5-11. July 9-13, July 16-20, July 23-27, July 30-Aug. 3. $279

Everything Chocolate Camp
This cooking camp features a week of making and decorating different kinds of chocolates. Campers will work with peanut butter cups, coconut haystacks and chocolate sculptures.

Gardener Camp: Junior Horticulturist
During this four-day camp, students will learn the basics of horticulture through interactive instructions and hands-on plant-based activities. Each day will include different areas of the plant science world, including insects and what their jobs are in nature, vegetable gardening and the importance of composting.

Natural Discovery Camp
The Bob Jones Nature Center holds camps to engage campers with different aspects of nature. Depending on the week, younger campers can learn about insects or fossils, predators or burrowers, while older campers become explorers of water, woods or wildlife. These camps offer lessons in nature while getting campers outdoors.
Ages 3-14. Various camps held from June 5-July 27. $180 (ages 3-5), $225 (6 and up)

OontzKids DJ Camps
At OontzKids DJ Academy, campers will learn about and become DJs. The camp, split into two levels, teaches students about music history and theory, introduces them to DJ equipment, and breaks down techniqiues like sampling and mixing. At the end of each camp, campers choose their own DJ name alias, design a personal logo and perform a set in front of the class.
Ages 8 and up. Camps are held from June 19-21 and July 17-19. $269

Play-Well Lego Camps
Play-Well’s Lego camps teach campers the ins and outs of basic engineering. Using popular properties such as “Star Wars” and “Minecraft,” instructors lead the campers through building projects that demonstrate the mechanics of inertia, motion, gears and connected systems, among other lessons. Ages 5-12. Jedi camp held July 16-20, “Minecraft” camp held Aug. 6-10. $164

Urban Foodies Camp
Urban Foodies introduces students to the art of cooking both on the town and in the kitchen. All sessions tour different restaurants, vendors or markets, host Q&As with foodie experts and hold cooking classes back at the Taste Buds Kitchen. Campers will be able to learn about the food as well as how to make it.
Ages 11-16. Various camps are held from June 11-July 27. $315

Adventure Day Camps
Adventure Day Camps in Grapevine encourage children to experience the outdoors. Campers meet at Austin Ranch to participate in a host of activities, such as fishing, swimming, geocaching, kayaking, archery, painting and more.
Ages 4-13. Various camps are held weekdays from May 21-Aug.17. $230

Dove Creek Day Camps
Children at Dove Creek Day Camp will get to experience adventures such as watersports, wilderness skills, camp games and archery. The camp offers the experience of an overnight camp without the hassle of packing for a full week.

Summer Camp Mania
Camp Mania provides structured games, free play, arts and crafts, field trips and other activities.

Teen Scene Camp
Teen Scene offers older campers a week packed with local excursions. The groups of teenagers spend most of the day off-site on field trips to museums, zoos, water parks, stadiums, aquariums, arcades and more.

Dallas Mavericks Hoop Camp
Basketball players of all skills levels can learn from coaches picked for their ability to work with children. Not only can campers learn the fundamentals of the game, but they can also get Mavs items, including two tickets to a Mavs game.
Ages 8-14. July 16-20. $250

D-Bat Baseball and Softball Camp
D-Bat’s summer camps get young baseball and softball players in shape, running them through clinics on hitting, fielding, pitching and throwing. When not training physically, the camp quizzes children on the games themselves, pushing campers to perform their best.
Ages 12 and under. June 4-8, 18-22, 25-29; July 9-13, 23-27; July 30-Aug. 3; Aug. 6-10, 13-17. $250

Ping Pong Camp
At Ping Pong Camp, campers will learn to play table tennis and then test their skills with head-to-head matches. With lessons, match practice and game tactics, participants will get a crash course in play.

Southlake Summer Camp
Spicar’s Martial Arts will offer several themed camps this summer. Children will learn basic karate moves as well as teamwork and discipline.
