It is not every day that someone can pick up a prescription at a pharmacy and order a shake at the same time, but at Village Lane Apothecary in Colleyville, that is exactly what guests can do.

Manager Sarah Pruett said her parents, Mickala and Mike Sisk, opened the full-service retail and compounding pharmacy one year ago because they wanted to bring a “small-town feel to the big city.”

“They grew up in a small town in Tennessee,” Pruett said of her parents, who she said enjoyed going to a pharmacy that had an old-fashioned soda fountain.

Pruett said her parents loved the concept of the fountain, which is why their pharmacy has one as well as a coffee bar and gift shop.

She said the lavender milkshake ($4.99) is one of the most popular menu items and features whipped cream and a cherry. Other items at the soda fountain include malts ($4.99), floats ($4.50) and phosphates—soda combined with flavored syrup and a “secret potion” ($3.50). Cookies ($2) and muffins ($4) are also available.

Pruett said if customers’ sweet tooths are not fulfilled with a shake, the pharmacy also offers a variety of candy.

Gumballs filled with Nerds, Pixy Stix and Mary Jane peanut butter candies are available for purchase for 50 cents a pound.

The store’s gift shop carries the Park Hill Collection—a line of furniture and home items featured on HGTV’s “Fixer Upper”—and carries the Colleyville-based Little Billy Goat paint line. Other gift items include candles, jewelry and soaps.

Pharmacist Gary Kirk said the pharmacy also offers its own line of vitamins and herbal products as well as free overnight shipping during the week.

“We are pretty unique,” Pruett said. “There are not many places you can get a milkshake or buy a couch while you wait for your medicine.”
