Hancock voted in favor of Senate Bill 9, which caps government spending long-term. Hancock said the initial draft of the Senate budget would follow the guidelines in SB 9, which also passed the Senate.

Senate Bill 5, which establishes new regulations for voter identification in elections, passed the Senate in a 21-10 vote. Burton was a co-sponsor of the bill.

Parker’s House Bill 1908 would raise the legal age to purchase tobacco products to 21 from the age of 18. The bill was heard by the House Public Health Committee and was left pending in committee.

Capriglione, who sits on the House Appropriations Committee, heard testimony for  House Bill 2. The bill passed out of the committee. The bill proposes tapping the state’s Economic Stabilization Fund for additional money.
