What happened
This year marked the 25th anniversary of the holiday kickoff event and included the lighting of a Christmas tree at Rustin & Family Park, near Southlake Town Hall. Streets throughout the shopping center were closed for food vendors, games for children, merchant vendors and activities.
Free Santa photos were available at Santa Village and choirs from local elementary schools performed outside of Southlake Town Hall.
There were also train rides and snow hills for children and toddlers, as well as teenagers and adults.
One more thing
Southlake’s ice skating rink will open Nov. 27, according to signs posted throughout the event.
The rink will be open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and from noon to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, according to a presentation at the Soutlake City Council meeting Nov. 5.
Attendees can walk up and buy a ticket or make reservations through the Geoji app, which is recommended, according to Festivals and Events Coordinator Lauren Kimberly.
The cost will be $15 a person, which includes ice skates. Skating will be a cashless payment event, she said.
