Meet Olympians Katie Meili and Stephen Lambdin

Colleyville hometown Olympians Katie Meili and Stephen Lambdin will honored at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 in front of City Hall, 100 Main St., Colleyville. The public is invited to attend and there will be an autograph and meet-and-greet session following the proclamation ceremony inside City Hall. These Olympians represented Team USA in the 2016 Rio Games. Meili swam in the 100 meter breaststroke and the 4x100 meter medley, winning bronze and gold medals, respectively. Lambdin, an accomplished Taekwondo practitioner, competed in the Taekwondo Men’s +80kg.

Regional Job Fair looking to hire thousands

The Grapevine Chamber of Commerce will host a free regional job fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Grapevine Convention Center, 1209 S. Main St., Grapevine. The job fair features more than a 1,000 job openings from employers such as AirServ Corporation, AMC Theatres, Charter Communications, Colorado Christian University, Grand Hyatt DFW, Great Wolf Lodge, North Texas Orthopedics & Sports Medicine & Rehab, Park Place Lexus of Grapevine, Six Flags Over Texas and Unique Landscaping. Some participating employers will be doing onsite interviews and immediate hiring.

Carroll ISD schedules homecoming parade

Carroll ISD's homecoming parade will take place Wednesday in Southlake Town Square. The parade will begin in the 400 block of Grand Avenue West, between Truluck’s Seafood Steak & Crab House and Barnes & Noble. The schedule is as follows: 5 p.m.—Barricades go up to block streets for the homecoming parade (no through traffic will be allowed). 6 p.m.—Parade line up will begin. Parade staging area will be in the north parking lots of Town Square. 6:30 p.m.—Parade begins. 7:30 p.m.—Parade concludes. 7:30 p.m.—Pep rally begins in front of Town Hall. 8:00 p.m.—The homecoming event concludes.

The Grapeyard

The Halloween event, which will be held Oct. 21-22, includes a zombie survival course, life-sized “Pokemon Go” and “Angry Birds” games, a nocturnal animal trail, Sleepy Hollow wagon rides, escape rooms and vendors. Costumes are encouraged, but no masks are allowed for participants ages 13 and older. 6-11 p.m. Free (must register for tickets in advance), $5 (parking), $10 (VIP parking).
