Select residents in Frisco and Little Elm will be able to order products for delivery by air in a matter of days.

Drone delivery company Wing, a subsidiary of Google’s parent company, Alphabet, has announced that its drone delivery service will launch for suburban homes on April 7. The Dallas-Fort Worth area is the first in the U.S. with access to the on-demand drone delivery, according to Wing.

Wing is working with Walgreens to deliver health and wellness products. In addition, Wing announced it will be delivering ice cream from Blue Bell Creameries, prescription pet medications from easyvet veterinarian and first-aid kits from Texas Health Resources.

“This will be America’s most scalable drone delivery operation to date,” said Jacob Demmitt, marketing and communications manager, in an email. “Walgreens team members will process their own orders and load packages onto drones themselves–while Wing oversees the delivery from a remote location.”

Demmitt said neighborhoods around the Walgreens store at 2774 E. Eldorado Parkway and Frisco Station will be eligible for delivery. He added that Wing plans to serve more neighborhoods “over time.”

Residents can check whether they are eligible for delivery on www.wing.com/dfw. The Wing app is publicly available for both iOS and Android devices.
