“For us and the residents of Texas, specifically the residents up here in Frisco, [it’s a chance] to have an opportunity to see the best players in the world over and over again every other year competing for a major championship,” said Jason Mengel, championship director of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. “Events like the KPMG Women’s PGA [Championship] are bucket list events for attendees.”
The overview
Tickets for the championship, to be held June 16-22 at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco, the home of the PGA of America, opened to the public Aug. 20, according to a news release from the Professional Golfers' Association of America.
Prices range between $35-$50 for daily ground tickets depending on the day and ticket packages for all four rounds start at $135.
Another ticket option is the PGA of America’s “Be There for Both” package, which starts at $270 for two tickets to all four KPMG Women’s PGA Championship rounds and priority access to ticket and hospitality offers for the 2027 PGA Championship, which will also be held in Frisco.
Attendees who purchase any of the corporate hospitality opportunities for the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship will also receive priority access to hospitality offerings for the 2027 PGA Championship, according to the release.
Something to note
Children aged 15 and younger can watch the championship, and some of the world’s best golfers, for free, Mengel said.
“We're hoping to inspire the future of the game,” Mengel said. “I anticipate this to be the ultimate girl dad event—bring out daughters and sons ... to enjoy it and then we hope that somebody may get started in the game during this event and then leave to potentially participate in the KPMG Women's PGA [Championship] down the road.”
Children aged 15 and younger will only be allowed free entry if accompanied by a ticketed adult. Only four free juvenile tickets will be given to each ticketed adult.
A similar program is available for military personnel, according to the release. Active duty, retirees, reserve, veterans and national guard military members will receive free grounds access with one guest for each day of the championship.
Zooming out
The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship was founded in 1955 and is one of five Ladies Professional Golf Association championships played every year.
“These are five championships every year where you could say golf transcends the sport,” Mengel said. “That’s five times a year where ... it’s [the golfers’] chance to write their names in the history books.”
KPMG Women’s PGA Championship golfers have played on courses in Washington, Ohio, New York and other states but never in Texas—until now.
It will be the second-ever major championship, and first women’s major championship, played on Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco.
Holding the championship in Frisco means offering another pathway into the game for attendees, Mengel said.
“If you're an avid golfer, a lot of the golf courses may not be as accessible as [Fields Ranch East] is,” he said.
For example, local golfers have the opportunity to play the exact same course as the professional golfers did during the championship, Mengel said.
The other side
For the average resident, the championship is still a chance to celebrate the rise in popularity of women’s sports, namely golf, Mengel said.
There were approximately 7 million women on-course golfers in 2023, a 25% jump from 2019, according to the National Golf Foundation.
“You take a look at like, the current wave of momentum nationally with women’s sports, certainly saw that with the Caitlin Clark phenomenon and then the Olympics,” Mengel said. “To have golf featured so prominently in the Olympics just gives us a chance to continue to build and carry forward the momentum that we've had with the KPMG Women's PGA Championship in the 10-11 years [PGA of America has] been a partner on this.”
Going forward
Mengel said he expects a larger crowd than the thousands of guests that attended the 2023 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.
“We were happy with the support that we received from the community for that championship and it gave us a good first step to continue to build relationships with golf fans in this community,” he said.
