Dr Pepper Ballpark is expected to have a new name by the end of the year.
Dr Pepper’s naming rights contract with the ballpark, which is home to the Frisco RoughRiders, is set to end in September. The company will not be renewing its contract.
The Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers is looking for a new naming rights partner, and executives have already had conversations with several interested companies, RoughRiders Chief Sales Officer John Alper said.
Alper said the team hopes to have a new naming partner in place before the beginning of the 2018 season. Until then the facility will still be known as Dr Pepper Ballpark.
“There’s no point in changing the name for three or six months—whatever it might be—changing all the signage and then going back to another name,” Alper said.
The RoughRiders were founded in 2003, and Dr Pepper has had the naming rights of the facility since the team's inception.
