Since purchasing the hospital last April, HCA North Texas has invested $5 million in expansion and upgrades to Medical City Frisco located within Frisco Square.

In February the hospital opened its new cardiac catheterization lab. The lab is outfitted with special diagnostic imaging equipment used by cardiologists to diagnose and treat coronary artery disease.

The hospital has also expanded its emergency department. The department was expanded from two to nine beds and received new medical equipment.

In addition, an emergency department parking lot was constructed to accommodate patients and emergency medical services crews.

Frisco Women’s Health has moved into the hospital, expanding the number of exam rooms, adding a full-size medical lab and an ultrasound technician. The hospital plans to provide labor and delivery services starting in 2018.

In a few years Medical City Frisco will also expand with a new building. The hospital bought a 5-acre tract of land just north of the main building for a future expansion. The land, which sits at the southeast corner of Main Street and Dallas Parkway, is zoned for a building with a maximum of 15 stories.

Medical City Frisco purchased the existing hospital building from Forest Park Medical Center in Frisco last year after Forest Park filed for bankruptcy in 2015.

HCA North Texas, which owns Medical City Frisco, purchased the hospital for $96.25 million.
