Media entertainment group Dude Perfect is pursuing a state designation that would provide a temporary exemption from certain sales and use taxes tied to the company’s planned expansion at The Star in Frisco.
Frisco City Council approved two items at a May 5 meeting tied to the application, designating Frisco as a media production development zone and approving Dude Perfect as a qualifying location within that zone.

The designation is part of a state program aimed at supporting and promoting the media production industry in Texas, according to city documents.
If approved by the state, the incentive would provide a two-year exemption from certain sales and use taxes on specific construction and equipment costs tied to the facility expansion.
Some context
Dude Perfect, which has a headquarters at The Star Business Park, is an entertainment group that produces trick shot and stunt videos for social media. The company plans to invest about $1.7 million to expand into an adjacent warehouse, creating a connected production campus.
The expansion will include converting the new space into a large-scale production space with dedicated areas for Dude Perfect’s video, podcast and gaming content, along with audio infrastructure updates, according to city documents.
Dude Perfect opened its 80,000-square-foot Frisco headquarters at the site in February 2025.
The local impact
City documents state the project is expected to support the company’s “anticipated workforce growth” in coming years, by creating new production and media roles such as directors, producers, photographers and media technicians.
An economic impact analysis study attached to the application details that the expansion could add more than 100 full-time employees to Dude Perfect’s workforce over an 11-year period, with 40 new workers expected to be hired this year.
If approved, the incentive could return $22,800 in local sales tax and $71,250 in state sales tax back to the project, city documents state.

With the city approval secured, the application will now be submitted to the state for final approval.
