American Airlines announces additional winter routes to Brazil, Hawaii
According to a news release from the Fort Worth-based airline, additional flights will be added to São Paulo, Brazil, Kahului, Hawaii, and a new daily route will go to Kona, Hawaii. American Airlines will also extend services to Dublin Airport in Dublin, Ireland. The seasonal service was set to end in October but the route will now run through January 2026.
Richardson Fire Department responded to nearly 15K service calls in 2024, report shows
During a presentation to council covering the department’s annual report, Fire Chief Curtis Poovey said the department is an “all-hazard” department, responding to fires, hazardous materials incidents, EMS calls and rescues. In total, Poovey said the department received 14,982 calls for service, with 10,335 of those calls for EMS services.

McKinney’s recycling services provider breaks ground on new facility in Frisco
Balcones Recycling, McKinney’s new recycling services provider, broke ground on a $61 million facility March 18. The facility, located in Frisco, will serve McKinney as well as Frisco and the surrounding Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Hotel Vin set to expand in Grapevine with Hotel Vin Reserve
Hotel Vin has plans to grow its footprint in Grapevine. Part of the Marriott Autograph Collection Hotels, Hotel Vin will break ground in late 2025 on Hotel Vin Reserve. The hotel addition will include a pool, rooms and event spaces.
Keller ISD looks to potential school consolidation for 2025-26 school year
Keller ISD Interim Superintendent Cory Wilson said as enrollment continues to decline and school funding remains an issue, potentially closing schools and “budgeting effectively” will be key items for the 2025-26 school year. Wilson said the district currently has approximately 31,700 students enrolled, which is down approximately 3,400 students from the peak enrollment in 2019-20. The decline has led to an underuse of schools across the district.
Collin College to maintain current tuition rates for fall 2025 semester
Collin College students will continue to pay the school’s current tuition rates for another semester, which are the lowest in the state. The Collin College board of trustees voted to maintain the current tuition rates for the Fall 2025 semester at a March 25 meeting. The decision is intended to further education affordability and accessibility, a goal of college officials.
Plano commission OKs plan to convert Legacy West roadway into outdoor stage
Water Street within Legacy West is set to become a new outdoor stage, pending approval from Plano City Council. The zoning change calls for the eastern half of Water Street, which currently connects Windrose Avenue to Communications Parkway in Legacy West, to be converted into 0.18 acres of open space, which would become an outdoor stage.
