Eight candidates have filed with the city for the two Frisco City Council seats on the May 3 ballot.

On the ballot

The period to file for a place on the ballot ended 5 p.m. Feb. 14 with eight candidates submitting their names for consideration for Places 2 and 4. The two seats are currently held by members Tammy Meinershagen and Bill Woodard, respectively.

Meinershagen will be seeking reelection to her Place 2 seat and will be running against candidates Burt Thacker and Sai Krishnarajanagar.

Woodard, who was first elected in 2016, has hit his term limit and is unable to run again.


The candidates who have filed for Place 4 are:
  • Jared Elad
  • Jerry Spencer
  • Gopal Ponangi
  • Sangita Datta
  • Josh Meek
All of Frisco’s City Council members serve at-large and represent all of Frisco, according to the city of Frisco’s website.

Dates to know

There are multiple dates to keep in mind leading up to the May 3 election:
  • Last day to register to vote: April 3
  • First day of early voting: April 21
  • Last day to accept an application for a ballot by mail: April 22
  • Last day of early voting: April 29
Depending on where they live in Frisco, residents can check their voter registration status through Denton County or Collin County’s websites.
