Plans related to a new multibillion-dollar project in Frisco are changing slightly.

Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission members recommended the city approve an updated site plan for The Railhead, a mixed-use development currently being built in northwest Frisco.

The updates focus on three lots inside a portion of The Railhead between Branchline Street and Junction Street. That portion will now include an additional, larger hotel and additional retail and restaurant spaces instead of the original plan to feature an office building majority.

A hotel brand was not mentioned in the meeting documents included with the agenda.

The overall development spans over 80 acres of land located just south of Wakeland High School and west of the Dallas North Tollway.

In case you missed it

City officials first approved plans for The Railhead in 2017. In the years since, the project has broken ground and its developers have entered an incentive agreement with the city to build a 10-story office tower.

Other amenities and buildings planned throughout The Railhead include:
  • Multiple urban living residential buildings
  • Three parking garages
  • Multiple park spaces, one of which is 4.42 acres in the center of the development

What comes next?

Commission members are expected to continue discussing details of the project, including specific building plans and landscaping plans, at future meetings.

All recommendations from the commission are considered later by council members. A list of upcoming city council meetings and agendas can be found here.
