Republican incumbent Angela Paxton is still in the lead in the race for the state Senate District 8 seat.

Paxton so far has secured 59.62% of the votes, or 248,219. Her opponent, Democrat Rachel Mello, has 168,116 votes, or 40.38%.

Unofficial election results for the state Senate District 8 seat race show Republican incumbent Angela Paxton is maintaining her early lead against Democratic opponent Rachel Mello.

Paxton so far has secured 59% of the votes, or 232,097, and Mello has 159,090 votes, or 41%.

According to unofficial early results, Republican incumbent Angela Paxton is leading the race for the state Senate District 8 seat.

What you need to know


The candidates for the Texas Senate seat are Paxton and Democratic challenger Rachel Mello. Paxton has secured 57.21% of votes, or 197,136, and Mello has 147,434 votes, or 42.79%.

Paxton was first elected to the state Senate District 8 seat in November 2018. This would be her second term if reelected.

Both Mello and Paxton ran unopposed in their party’s respective primary races.
