Individuals affected by severe weather in North Texas in late May will have more time to apply for disaster assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The initial deadline to apply for assistance was July 16, but individuals will now be able to apply through Aug. 15, according to the agency’s website.

The new deadline applies specifically to individual assistance applications, which are used to help cover costs not paid for by insurance. The aid is to assist residents affected by severe weather across North Texas May 28-June 5.
