Three City Council members will tour multiple performing arts complexes and venues this fall as officials work to bring Frisco residents a performing arts complex of their own.

The details

Frisco City Council members Tammy Meinershagen, John Keating and Mayor Jeff Cheney volunteered to join a three-member ad hoc committee to tour performing arts complexes during an Oct. 3 work session meeting.

The tours should help city officials see what performing arts complexes could work for Frisco, according to a meeting presentation.

Here is a quick look at some of the proposed venues the committee could tour:A tentative schedule presented to council splits the tours across three short trips—two in November and one in early December.

The committee could also choose to add a trip to Buddy Holly Hall in Lubbock, according to a meeting presentation.

In case you missed it

Frisco’s performing arts complex journey officially began in early September when council members approved a $1.42 million contract with Theatre Projects Consultants Inc. for consulting services related to a multivenue complex.

Touring venues is one of the first steps in the Theatre Projects Consultants’ timeline:
  • September 2023-March 2024: similar-size club and venue visits, site analysis, concept design and renderings, facilitation of potential Broadway partnerships, and business plan refinement
  • February 2024-July 2024: community engagement and check-ins
  • July 2024-March 2025: competition, cost estimates and a final plan presentation

The committee’s findings will be presented at a January work session meeting with other performing arts complex updates, including progress on a potential deal with Broadway Across America, according to a meeting presentation.
