The Frisco Police Department is getting some new equipment.

City Council members approved two contracts—one for video equipment, and one for annual computer software and records maintenance—for the police department during their Aug. 1 meeting totaling $789,178.

The breakdown

The first contract was for three years and $600,000 of annual maintenance and support for the department’s various public safety systems, including its:
  • Records management system
  • Public safety computer-aided dispatch system
  • Mobile data computer
The second contract was for $189,178 to outfit the department’s new traffic, detention and animal services vehicles with the following video equipment:
  • 18 mobile in-car video recorders
  • Accompanying body-worn camera accessories
The money comes from the department’s 2023 operating budget, according to meeting documents.
