Area residents will soon be able to pose questions over the state’s electric grid to state representatives and leadership of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) in a public setting.
State Reps Matt Shaheen, R-Plano, and Jared Patterson, R-Frisco, will host Brad Jones, interim president and CEO of ERCOT, in a town hall on Dec. 1 at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center. The meeting will be held from 7-9 p.m. at 6101 Frisco Square Blvd., Frisco.
On Twitter, Shaheen shared a flyer on the upcoming event. He said the town hall will be about “changes that are being implemented as a result of the freeze and power outages earlier this year.”
In February, a historic winter storm crippled power plants across Texas, which led to widespread blackouts around the state. Gov. Greg Abbott had issued a disaster declaration in response to the severe weather that left thousands without power for days.
