Burt Thakur, running for Place 2, and Jared Elad, running for Place 4, maintained their early leads in their races for Frisco City Council, according to early voting totals from Collin and Denton counties. In Collin County, four out of 15 vote centers are reporting and 38 out of 65 precincts are reporting in Denton County.

Thakur maintained his lead over incumbent Tammy Meinershagen in the race for Frisco City Council Place 2. Thakur garnered 55.75% or 6,156 votes over Meinershagen’s 4,886 votes.

Elad continued to lead Gopal Ponangi in the race for Frisco City Council Place 4. Elad earned56.25% or 6,235 votes over Ponangi, who received 4,848 votes.

Frisco voters returned to the ballot box to elect Frisco City Council places 2 and 4 on a June 7 runoff election.

Burt Thakur, running for Place 2, and Jared Elad, running for Place 4, took early leads in their respective races, according to early voting totals from Collin and Denton counties.


The details

Thakur led Tammy Meinershagen, the incumbent, in the race for Frisco City Council Place 2. Thakur garnered 56.67% or 5,353 votes over Meinershagen’s 4,092 votes.

Elad led Gopal Ponangi in the race for Frisco City Council Place 4. Elad earned 56.93% or 5,405 votes over Ponangi, who had 4,088 votes.

In Collin County, 21,823 voters turned out to vote in the runoff election and 7,085 cast a ballot in Denton County.
