The races for Frisco City Council places 2 and 4 have been sent to a runoff election after candidates failed to get more than 50% of the vote.
If one candidate does not receive more than 50% of votes, the two candidates that received the most votes will continue on to a runoff election for the mayor seat. The election day for any runoff races is scheduled for June 7, with early voting being held May 27-31 as well as June 2-3.
The two candidates that will be in the runoff election for Place 2 are incumbent Tammy Meinershagen and Burt Thakur.
The two candidates that will be in the runoff election for Place 4 in Frisco will be Jared Elad and Gopal Ponangi.

Collin and Denton counties have released early voting totals for elections related to several city council races and propositions.
What you need to know
Frisco City Council has two seats up for grabs for places 2 and 4.
Tammy Meinershagen and Bill Woodard currently hold the two seats, respectively. Woodard is terming out with five candidates looking to replace him. Meinershagen is running against candidates Burt Thakur and Sai Krishnarajanagar.
The candidates for Place 4 include:
- Jared Elad
- Jerry Spencer
- Gopal Ponangi
- Sangita Datta
- Josh Meek
In the race for Place 4, Elad is leading with about 40% of the vote. Ponangi is behind Elad with about 24% of the vote. Meek has 16%, Datta has 14% and Spencer has 5%.
What else?
During early voting, there were 83,343 ballots cast in both Collin and Denton counties.
Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.
