The early voting period has ended for local municipal elections. Collin County officials are reporting more than 54,000 residents have already cast their ballots by mail and in person for the local May 3 elections.

The breakdown

About 7.5% of registered voters cast their ballots in Collin County.

Of the 54,292 ballots received, 892 were returned by mail between April 22-29, according to Collin County election data.

What’s on the ballot


Frisco City Council seats are up for grabs this election. Eight candidates are running to fill Place 2 and 4 on the council.

Place 2 candidates include:
  • Tammy Meinershagen (incumbent)
  • Burt Thakur
  • Sai Krishnarajanagar

The incumbent for place 4, Bill Woodard, is terming out. The candidates looking to replace him include:
  • Jared Elad

Also on the ballot are 14 propositions, with two related to the proposed Frisco Center for the Arts and 12 City Charter amendments.


Three Frisco ISD board of trustees seats are up for grabs this year as well.

The school board of trustees races include the following races and candidates:

Where to vote

Registered voters in Collin County will be able to cast their ballots at any of the county’s 56 polling locations on election day.

Voting hours can vary by polling location but they will generally be open between 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on election day. Voting locations can be found here.
