Incumbent Matt Shaheen took an early lead over challenger Wayne Richard in the race for the State Representative District 66 seat, according to early voting totals from the Texas Secretary of State.

Shaheen leads with 6,954, or 64.4% of the early votes, according to unofficial early polling results as of 7:50 p.m. Richard trails with 35.6%.


Shaheen has served as state representative since elected in 2014.
