Incumbent Jeff Cheney secured his third term as Frisco’s mayor with 55% of the votes, according to unofficial voting results from Denton and Collin counties.

“I'm excited about serving a final term in Frisco after serving for fifteen years and thankful for the residents of Frisco to trust me for one final term,” Cheney said.

Before becoming mayor, Cheney served on Frisco City Council from 2007-2016.

Frisco’s two other mayoral candidates were Mark Piland and Jonathan Spencer. Piland secured second place with 8,651 votes or 42% and Spencer came in behind him with 619 votes or 3% of the total.


“I want to thank Mark Piland and his team for running for election and being gracious in defeat,” Cheney said.

Cheney also said he plans to meet with Piland soon to discuss Frisco’s future.

“I'm excited to serve this community for one more time,” Cheney said.

Incumbent Jeff Cheney is holding on to a 55% lead with 100% of Denton County precincts and 57 out of 62 Collin County precincts reporting, according to unofficial early voting results from Denton and Collin counties.

Frisco has two other candidates for its mayoral seat: Mark Piland and Jonathan Spencer. Piland is still in second place with 8,360 votes at 43% and Spencer remains behind him with 556 votes, or almost 3% of the total.

Cheney was first elected as mayor in 2017 and is also a real estate agent. As of May 6 at 10:10 p.m., he has 10,729 votes.

Frisco has two other candidates for its mayoral seat: Mark Piland and Jonathan Spencer. Piland is still in second place with 6,176 votes at 42% and Spencer remains behind him with 385 votes, or almost 3% of the total.
