Three trustee positions are up for grabs in Frisco ISD’s May election.

What you need to know

Filing for the May 3 school board election will run from Jan. 15-Feb. 14. The district’s board of trustees approved calling for the school board election during a Jan. 13 meeting.

Three seats are up for election—Places 1, 2 and 3. The positions are currently held by Gopal Ponangi, Marvin Lowe and Stephanie Elad, respectively.

Board members are elected at-large to three-year terms and represent the entire FISD community, according to the district. The district does not hold run-off elections and the candidate with the most votes wins the seat.

Applications for a place on the ballot must be in writing, signed and sworn to by the candidate and filed with the district’s filing authority Michelle Arellano.

Looking ahead

The last day to register to vote is April 3. Early voting will be from April 22-29, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s website.
