The district’s board unanimously approved Valerie Bearden as Shawnee Trail Elementary School’s principal.
The details
Bearden was most recently the assistant principal at Tadlock Elementary, a district official said. Her previous roles include teaching second, third and fourth grades; math specials teacher; and instructional coach.
"I wanted to give a shout-out to the incredible talent pool that's coming to our district," Trustee René Archambault said.

The district also appointed eight other positions, including a psychologist, a speech pathologist and teachers, according to the agenda.
Five of the nine people recommended for the positions had master’s degrees or Ph.D.s., Archambault said.
"What an impressive group of folks that we are very fortunate to have giving their time and talents into our district," she said.
