Frisco ISD will begin recruiting for positions to staff the district's new elementary school and high school opening in the fall with more than 200 new jobs.

The district is set to open Panther Creek High School and Minett Elementary School for the 2022-23 school year as part of a larger plan to accommodate the district's ongoing growth. Frisco ISD, which recorded 65,865 students in October, expects to add at least 1,600 students next school year, according to district documents.

In order to consider staffing in the next school year’s budget and for recruiting purposes, the board of trustees said more than 200 total new positions would likely be necessary, according to a resolution that passed unanimously at a Feb. 15 school board meeting.

Among those positions are principals for both campuses, diagnosticians, custodians, counselors and at least 125 teachers, documents stated.

Chief Financial Officer Kimberly Smith advised the board that positions won't be opened for hiring until the next contract year. She said the resolution serves only to allow for recruiting purposes and to allow the positions to be worked into the upcoming budget.
