Nearly half of Frisco ISD students will soon return to the classroom after three weeks of all-virtual instruction, but a breakdown by grade level indicates the scales are not as even for some.

Data released by FISD shows 53.6% of high schoolseniors will return to in-person learning Sept. 3— the highest percentage among all the grades. The grade with the lowest percentage returning to school is prekindergarten, at 34.75%, followed by third grade, at 39.9%.

This data comes after FISD reopened the window for parents to choose their child's preferred learning environment for the fall between July 27-30. The form was initially open from June 29-July 14.

The chart below shows the percentage of students by grade level returning to schools or remaining in Virtual Academy.

The next opportunity for FISD families to change their student's learning environment preference is Oct. 16.

On Aug. 28, FISD started reporting active COVID-19 cases among students and staff by campus on its website.
