Frisco ISD will extend spring break by one week due to coronavirus concerns, with the district citing the March 11 pandemic declaration along with the latest information from medical experts and state and federal health officials.

The district's scheduled spring break is March 9-13. FISD schools and district offices will remain closed March 16 through March 20, according to a March 12 notice by Superintendent Mike Waldrip. The district will evaluate the situation prior to reopening school March 23.

All scheduled events and competitions within FISD during the spring break extension will be considered canceled until further notice, per the notice.

District travel for student competitions and events outside FISD will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, Waldrip said in the notice.

McKinney and Plano ISDs have also extended their spring breaks by an extra week.
