Several Frisco ISD schools will receive roof replacements and repairs and lighting upgrades totalling nearly $12 million.

The FISD board of trustees approved the repairs and upgrades at a Feb. 10 meeting.

Roof work

Eight Frisco ISD schools will receive roof repairs and replacements. This follows extensive hail damage on these schools from April.

The FISD board approved roofing projects for Maus Middle School, Mooneyham Elementary School, Heritage High School, Ashley Elementary School, Ogle Elementary School, Scoggins Middle School, Comstock Elementary School and Elliot Elementary School.

The repairs and replacements will cost a little over $10.2 million with a contingency allowance, according to district documents. This will be funded from the hail-damaged roof replacement and repair proceeds received from FISD’s insurer and local capital funds, per district documents.

Pioneer Heritage and Wester middle schools will receive roofing maintenance repairs for nearly $1.5 million with a contingency allowance. Funding will come from the 2018 bond program, per district documents.

Lighting upgrades

The board also approved LED lighting upgrades for Rogers Elementary School.

The campus interior and exterior lighting will be upgraded to LED for a little over $213,000 with a $20,000 allowance for minor changes and unforeseen circumstances, per district documents.

This project will be funded from the 2018 bond program funds, per district documents.
