According to a recent community survey, most taxpayers in Frisco ISD are in favor of the district's small schools model for high schools and do not want to move away from it.

Last month, FISD conducted a community survey to receive feedback on the district’s high school facilities model. The survey gauged whether taxpayers still agreed with FISD’s small schools concept for high schools.

According to the survey results, key findings include:

  • Four out of five respondents (80 percent) say the small schools model factored into their decision to move to Frisco, including 22 percent who say it was the reason and 34 percent who say it was a major factor.

  • After reading more about it, four out of five respondents (80 percent) want to continue the small schools model, while 11 percent say the district should increase the size of its high schools.

  • When asked to choose the most important advantage of the small schools model, 36 percent chose “the student feeling more connected to the school” and 28 percent chose “more opportunities for extracurricular”.

  • Of the 10 percent of respondents who are not parents and not employed by the district, 69 percent are in favor of continuing the small school model.

FISD staff will make a full presentation to the board of trustees at its meeting Monday, which begins at 5:30 p.m. For more information on the results, click here.
