A passion for restaurants brought three friends together to open Bella Bella Mozzarella, an Italian restaurant with elements of Indian fusion.

The owners, Sam Sirri, Yahya Mnajed and Mike Almansoor, opened the restaurant in April 2022 with limited menu items before expanding offerings after a few weeks, Sirri said. It was Mnajed’s passion not only for the restaurant industry, Sirri said, but for Italian food that inspired Bella Bella Mozzarella.

“It’s a hobby, cooking pasta,” Mnajed said. “We decided to turn this hobby into a business.”

The backstory

Mnajed said when he first moved to the United States from Syria, where Sirri is also from, he decided to work in the restaurant industry, eventually opening a Papa John's Pizza location.

Sirri has been friends with Mnajed for several years and has a background in digital marketing but decided to partner with Mnajed because of his passion for Italian food.

“[Mnajed] is very good at serving Italian dishes,” Sirri said. “He makes very good pasta dishes. Very different pasta dishes. It’s very inspiring.”

What’s on the menu?

It was important to have something on the menu for everyone, Sirri said and because of that, most menu items are halal. In addition, the restaurant offers several vegetarian and Indian fusion dishes, such as the tandoori chicken pasta and chicken tikka pizza.

One of the most popular menu items, Mnajed said, is the Bella Bella Pasta—which features spaghetti, a signature marinara sauce, eggplant, cherry tomato and mozzarella cheese.

“All of the pasta dishes are very popular,” Sirri said, adding that commonly ordered pizzas include the Philly cheesesteak and Margherita.

What’s special about it

The owners said it is important for them to give back to the community, and as a result, they have formed a partnership with Frisco ISD.

“We give kids in the elementary schools a free cheese pizza when they reach certain achievements, and we support middle school athletic events,” Sirri said. “Sometimes, [schools] do fundraising events in the restaurant itself. We give them special pricing and a percentage that we give back to the [Parent Teacher Association].”
