“So far, the community has been very supportive,” Bencomo said. “We’re still hanging in there.”
The restaurant, which Bencomo said serves a cross between authentic Mexican food and Tex-Mex, also comes with a full-service bar and caters its liquor options to the community’s liking.
“It’s a neighborhood bar,” Bencomo said. “You’ve got good drinks—not too many, but enough to make you happy.”
Margaritas, made with Jose Cuervo and El Jimador, are most popular among customers, he said.
“We follow a lot of what the neighborhood really likes, and that’s what we’ll put on,” Bencomo said.
Bencomo said he originally wanted to open CasaMia in the southern part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, but Frisco’s popularity in the sports and restaurant industries caught his eye. The 2,800-square-foot restaurant opened on Rolater Road in April 2019.
“Every business started putting locations there,” he said. “And then, we saw the [Dallas] Cowboys moving in there and the Dallas Stars and [FC Dallas], too.”
Popular menu items at CasaMia include the restaurant’s various enchiladas, quesadillas, chimichangas and burritos. Fajitas—specifically, the Trio Fajitas—are a hit with regulars, Bencomo said.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, Bencomo said, most customers can be seen with a margarita in hand as well as the signature CasaMia’s Queso, which comes with yellow or white queso, ground beef, pico de gallo and jalapeños.
Dinnertime is when most Frisco families come out to CasaMia, Bencomo said. Many families dine as regularly as weekly, and he said that has made the difference in keeping the restaurant’s doors open.
“As long as the community keeps doing what they’re doing in supporting us, we will be there,” he said.
