A total of $28 million will be awarded to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field Airport, according to an Oct. 24 release from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The impact

DFW Airport will receive $15 million for the exterior infrastructure of Terminal F, according to the report. This terminal will add 22 new gates and support gate access for up to 15 aircrafts.

Dallas Love Field will receive $13 million to improve the main terminal and enhance accessibility for passengers with disabilities. The grant will fund the reconstruction of the existing main terminal by reconfiguring interior walls, constructing one public use escalator and reconstructing 12 moving walkways.

Other airports around Texas will receive funding, including Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Kelly Field Airport in Port San Antonio, South Texas International Airport in Edinburg, Valley International Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport, according to the report.

In total, over $86 million was given to airports across Texas to support growth and development.

The backstory

A total of $970 million will be awarded to 125 U.S. airports spanning from Guam, Palau and 46 states, according to the release. The funding comes from the Airport Terminal Program, one of three programs created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which provides $1 billion annually to airports around the nation for five years.


The law was passed in 2021 by President Joe Biden, marking this year’s investment for fiscal year 2025 the fourth installment of the five year plan, per the report.

What else?

Previously, DFW Airport received funding from the program for the following improvements:
  • $11 million to update airside restroom facilities for FY 2024
  • $25 million to improve energy efficiency and install a zero carbon electric central utility plant for FY 2023
  • $35 million to build a facility for the zero carbon electrical central utility plan for FY 2022
The Arlington Municipal Airport also received funds in FY 2022 to replace the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
