Frisco’s “most complicated zoning case in history” will go before the Planning & Zoning Commission tonight, according to Planning & Zoning Commission Chair Robert Cox.

The commission will vote on rezoning over 2,150 acres of land on the Fields property from agriculture to planned development for a mix of single-family and high-density, multifamily housing and office, retail, commercial and industrial uses, according to city documents.

The item was tabled in January so applicant FHQ Holdings LP could have more time to work with city leadership and staff on development plans. The commission later held a special workshop on Feb. 18 to discuss the project.

“I want to make sure we have oversight [and] give [the] flexibility to the development that they’re requesting,” Cox said at the January meeting. “But also oversight to make sure the city can protect the interests of its citizens over the next 20-30 years as well.”

The land is located on Frisco’s northwest end. The future Professional Golfers’ Association of America headquarters is adjacent to the Fields property.

There will also be a public hearing at the Feb. 25 meeting.
