Frisco ISD’s 11th high school will be named Emerson High School.

The district's school board voted unanimously at an Oct. 7 meeting in favor of the name for the future high school located on the east side of FISD in McKinney.

The Citizen's Naming Committee decided on Emerson because it was the original name of the city of Frisco, Todd Fouche, deputy superintendent of business and operations, said at the meeting.

"We think it is very fitting that a Frisco ISD high school, which is located in the city of McKinney, pays tribute to the original name of Frisco, which was inspired by a businessman from McKinney," Fouche said.

Emerson High School is expected to open in fall 2021.
