Exide Technologies had a battery recycling plant that operated in Frisco from 1969 to 2012. The plant was shut down after the local and federal government raised concerns about the environment. Since it ceased operations in Frisco, the plant has been going through an extensive cleanup process. This process has contributed to the delay in the Grand Park project. When cleanup is finished, the city plans to buy the land that surrounds the former plant to use for future development, possibly for expanding Grand Park.
