Frisco City Council approved Tuesday amending plans for The Star in Frisco development, which now include a potential residential high-rise in the 91-acre development. The amendments to the development's plans stipulate that the developer cannot build a residential high-rise at The Star unless City Council approves the plans for the building. Frisco Developmental Services Director John Lettelleir stressed that approving the amendments would not authorize the developer to build the high-rise; the amendments would just allow the developer to present plans to City Council at a later date to either approve or deny. The planned development for The Star does not currently allow for residential. Robert Shaw of Columbus Realty, the developer, said he is partnering with the Jones family, who own the Dallas Cowboys, to develop this high-rise and would like to start construction in January. Shaw said he plans to build a 17-story high-rise with 150-160 units at maximum. The amendments also allow some modifications to the planned signs within the development.
